Rachel is an ITEC Certified Swedish Massage therapist. Her treatments are for those who suffer from joint or muscle pains or who need a relaxing and rejuvenating treatment. She uses a combination of Swedish (classic) and Deep Tissue Massage techniques.
Swedish or Classic Massage is a hands on therapy for the whole body. It promotes relaxation by releasing muscle tension through kneading, long or circular strokes and passive manipulation of the joints. The technique is deeply relaxing but also increases the blood flow and lymphatic drainage as well as stimulating nerve endings. The medium used is either almond oil or grapeseed oil (unscented) or Lovegrove Essentials MassageBalms. These have a combination of healing herbs for conditions like headaches, aches and pains, rheumatism, insomnia, anxiety.
Deep Tissue Massage is a slightly firmer massage targeting areas of extreme tension. The techniques are similar to Swedish but pressure can be more intense as therapists focus on the tendons, fascia and deeper muscle layers. Deep Tissue Massage is favoured by people who need a deep muscle release due to exercise or injury, or for those with chronic pains in the back, neck or legs.
Rachel is also a highly trained yoga instructor and may well give advice on posture and simple exercises after your session if required.
