Lu Mays Yoga Journey

My journey in Yoga commenced in the year 2000 after attending a convention in Loughborough University for Physiology and Sports science. Whilst there I joined an Ashtanga yoga class, by chance and was instantly intrigued about the movement and the theory behind Yoga.

After attending several different styles of yoga classes, I was then fortunate enough to travel to LA and experience Bikram yoga in the midst of the hot yoga revolution. My experience in the fitness industry as a personal trainer and fitness instructor further lead me to embark on my first yoga course.

When I first began teaching, my style was predominantly Vinyasa, as I love to create a seamless flow of movement with pranayama. My personal practice included a combination of Vinyasa, Ashtanga and Bikram. So later on I enrolled myself on a Hot yoga course and several years later I qualified in Ashtanga, Restorative and Yin Yoga.

Yoga intrigues me as much as it balances me and have been incredibly fortunate to run yoga retreats in Spain, along with teaching and running retreats in Devon. My love of yoga has also allowed me to travel to Holland where I have presented classes on yoga, meditation and mindfulness to large corporations like Nissan. I subsequently was asked to present and teach for Virgin, Nestle, Thales and G4S. I have also recently travelled to India to deepen my knowledge of the philosophy and history behind yoga.

Yoga is integral to my life and brings peace and purpose to my existence. I still continue to run yoga retreats and workshops, with two upcoming in Pulborough later this year, alongside now also teaching at New Energy Yoga, Winchester.

I look forward to meeting you again when we return.

Love,

Lu
