A 90 minute led Ashtanga Primary Series class instructed according to the set sequence of postures and full counted vinyasa (meaning: transition or movement linking postures with the breath) in Sanskrit. The ryhthm of the vinyasa allows the practitioner to build heat, find depth in the breath, move in unison with fellow practioners and experience meditation in movement. It is not necessary to be practising the full Primary Series to attend. Practioners are encouraged to stop and observe whenever they encounter new postures. Everyone is challenged at some point in Ashtanga!
The class is suitable for practitioners with some experience of Ashtanga or more dynamic styles of yoga. It is not suitable for beginners. Ashtanga is a physically demanding style of yoga, which builds openess in both body and awareness, as well strength and stamina over time.
